Have you ever considered going on a raw food diet? With hundreds of new and trendy diets to choose from, going all raw might not seem like the tastiest way to get healthy.
A raw food diet is based on eating whole, live, nutritionally-dense organic uncooked and un-processed foods as a large percentage of your diet. When 75-100% of your total food consumption is raw food, you are a raw food-ist. At that rate it is believed that your body’s own elimination system can eliminate all or most of the toxins in the cooked portion of your diet. When you eat more cooked food you are eating toxins faster than your body can get rid of them so they back up causing disease. Heating food above 118 degrees F is believed to destroy valuable enzymes in food that can assist in digestion and health.
Its no secret that eating right makes you healthier and less likely to to become sick. I for one am trying to cut back on all the fried foods I eat (its a border-line vice of mines which I am starting today to get under control lol). Heart disease and diabetes as scary as they sound seem like common diseases now a days. Its like everybody and their mother has either/or b0th. Wow, all I know is that I want to live passed 70 years old if I can help it, and starting a healthier diet is my start towards investing in myself. The Raw Food Diet…going raw could be the best thing you’ve ever done for your body.
I don’t usually post emcee battles up on here because 1. Most hip hop battles that claim to be freestyled aren’t 2. I prefer to leave comments of what I think on the author site… but this here my friends is one of the most illest/murderous/sick in the head freestyle battle that I’ve seen in a long time. Big ups to my homie Sir Kutta Dufrane for putting me on. Now I will add for the sensitive viewers these guys get a bit rowdy with the racial lines and gay references, but when it was all said and done you can see both emcees maintained their levels of respect for one another. True hip hop, true lyrics and a whole lot uv skills. This is underground hip hop where only the strongest survive!

The Nigerian/German singer-songwriter Nneka is proving to be this year’s newest sensation in music. Currently on tour, with special live performances and guest appearances (including the late show with David Letterman), Nneka has been gathering new found fans by the hundreds and becoming quite the talk amongst the music industry. Nneka’s infectious sound and style has many comparing her to the likes of Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu because of the ease at which Nneka fuses rootsy soul with Hip Hop and elements of her native Nigerian culture. Nneka explained her experience in her homeland as an artist who crafts music with political undertones. She even describes dodging the secret service due to the content of her lyrics and overall backlash for her message music.
When asked how she feels about now being a part of New York City, Nneka replied, “Babylon is enticing. It’s enjoyable to dance with the devil and win his soul.” With a faint accent and a winning smile, Nneka voiced her intentions as a star on the rise: “I’m just me. Simple, trying to be professional…and authentic.” Nneka’s debut album Concrete Jungle is in stores now.
One of my favorite hip hop groups is back @ it again! The Clipse, with their latest album release “Till The casket Drops” Malice and Pusha-T(on) mange to bring a clearer maturity in their perspectives of reality and music. Blame it on lousy record deals and promotions or something, but for being such hardcore, mainstream hero’s of rap, they haven’t been saving the day much lately (though it seems that is all soon to change). Drinking beetroot juice boosts your stamina and could help you exercise for up to 16% longer. A University of Exeter led-study shows for the first time how the nitrate contained in beetroot juice leads to a reduction in oxygen uptake, making exercise less tiring.
Researchers at the University of Exeter and Peninsula in England gave eight men — ages 19-38 — about 16 ounces of organic beetroot juice for six consecutive days before they completed a series of exercise bike tests.
After drinking the juice, the men were able to cycle an average of 92 seconds longer than when given a placebo of blackcurrant cordial under the same circumstances.
Journal of Applied Physiology study suggests the effect is greater than that which can be achieved by regular training. Beetroot juice has previously been shown to reduce blood pressure as well. Source: BBC Health News
Check out the Cashless Society, a South African hip hop group that was formed in 1999 and have been making a name for themselves as an underground force both at home and internationally. I for one never heard of them before I saw this video and was simply impressed. A real rough,rugged and raw style of mic exhibition by Kwezi Ngcakani (X Amount) and Julian Du Plessis (Snazz D) immediately grabbed my attention as I bobbed to the beats and rhymes in satisfaction. Today is another healthy step forward towards a richer 2010. An assumptive statement, I know, but I feel so excited about what this year has in store…Its going to be a huge one! (A simple challenge) Bringing birth to fresh perspectives and action packed approaches that produce results in achievement.
Since I believe so much in what this new year has in store for us all, I decided to get a bit more practical, precise and strategic with planning out my future. (Note to self: in order for my master plan to unravel and conquer my reality I must 1.exhibit genuine diligence in all my endeavors this year 2.Live healthier(to include exercising more) and last but most importantly 3.Be more charitable to others everyday.) So today I seriously thought about it and wrote down three straight forward goals I felt within my ability to attain, were practical and well deserving of my hard work. (My Goals by the way: increasing my income to six figures, buying another car and visiting Africa)

But If I’m to be honest with this write up, I will admit I was very skeptical in the beginning. Until one day I got a call from an old navy friend of mine I met around the same time I started with the company. To my surprise he wanted to know more about the chip I gave him. On Saturday, December 19, M-Eighty broke the record for Longest Freestyle Rap, recognized by Guinness World Records, after rhyming for nine hours, fifteen minutes and fifteen seconds.
The previous record holder was D.O., and Supernatural also reportedly rhymed for nine hours but was never recognized by Guinness World Records.
After breaking the record, M-Eighty spoke on the feat.
“Today was an amazing feat and a marvelous accomplishment for myself as an artist and as a person. Right here, right now I have something that no one can take away from me or try to discredit. I thank my many hip-hop inspirations and those who attended today’s event for allowing me to conquer this goal. I feel like I have finally done something that even the people who hate me have no choice but to respect and congratulate and that is a rare and good feeling.”
Advisors at the Guinness headquarters still must review the footage and check that the proper paperwork was submitted in order to officially crown M-Eighty the record holder.
According to a press release, M-Eighty is also helping Nigeria with this quest.
“M-Eighty’s Guinness World Record breaking achievement has been fundamental in raising $30,000 in order to build a model secondary school in the Bodo River States of Nigeria,” the statement reads.
